LLM-driven medical record standardization for pediatric epilepsy in Uganda
I lead GlobalHealthLLM, a multidisciplinary effort that uses LLMs to refine and standardize medical records from underserved communities — currently focused on pediatric epilepsy patients in rural Ugandan clinics.
What we’re building
- Anti-seizure medication efficacy prediction: ML models trained on standardized records to forecast which medications work best for which patients.
- Clinical-note standardization: an LLM-powered system that transforms unstructured clinical notes into standardized records while preserving culturally specific health information and treatment approaches.
- Decision-support interface: deployed in collaboration with local healthcare providers to improve medication adherence and seizure control in rural settings.
The work bridges resource-constrained healthcare delivery and modern foundation-model methodology, with the goal of reducing the gap in care that currently exists between high- and low-resource clinical contexts.
